Step 1: Contact
Custom work begins with the client filling out my custom work request form, which can be found below. You will need to download the form, either print it out or copy and paste into an email, fill in the questions, then return via email. If you are printing out the form, you can handwrite the answers, then scan and return in an email or contact for mailing information. The answers to these questions give me a basic idea of what the client is interested. After this initial contact, I will provide a more detailed set of questions to the client so we can begin refining the parameters of the project. I like to get to know the client through email conversation to get a unique sense of what this piece is symbolic of, what styles and influences inspired the idea, etc. This information gives me a starting point for design and pricing.
Step 2: Design
If a client knows exactly what he/she wants, there is no need for this stage. Usually I do 1 - 3 rounds of drawings based on refinements and client feedback. Each option will have a price estimate including design time.When a design, price and time line are agreed upon, fabrication will begin.
Step 3: Fabrication
Building the piece can involve a variety of processes and is entirely dependent on the specifications of the project. The design process determines which methods I will use for making a particular piece of work. A fifty percent deposit is due at the beginning of the fabrication stage. Balance is due upon completion.
